Post Caption & Content Strategy
One of the biggest myths about communication is that children should copy a word the first time they hear it. In reality, language develops through exposure, repetition and meaningful experiences. 🌱 Try this simple approach: ✨ Model a gesture ✨ Pause ✨ Give them time ✨ If they don’t respond, model the word ✨ Repeat it consistently in everyday routines For example: 🍎 Child reaches for an apple. You might: 👉 point to the apple 🤍 pause 🍎 say “apple” No pressure. No testing. No “say apple.” Just modelling. Children often need to hear and see words MANY times before they begin using them independently. Communication is not built through pressure. It is built through connection, repetition and meaningful interaction. 🌱 Research & Evidence: • Hart & Risley (1995) — Meaningful Differences in the Everyday Experience of Young American Children • Tomasello (2003) — Constructing a Language • Bruner (1983) — Child’s Talk: Learning to Use Language • Rowe (2012) — A Longitudinal Investigation of the Role of Quantity and Quality of Child-Directed Speech • The Hanen Centre — It Takes Two to Talk® Research #speechtherapy #learnthroughplay #parenting #childdevelopment #bilingual — Rooted Communication Co. 🌱
